A good win for our senior hurlers last night in thier third group game in the championship. Recent league results have seen the team draw with Balinteer and lose to Finbarrs by a point so this game was one the lads were looking forward to playing and getting a win from. Despite having a very small squad due to players being away on holiday, the team canme together well and opened up a nine point lead at half time 13 pts to 4.
The first half included some fine points from play from Eoghan Keogh and Stephen Kelly and some excellent defensive work from Ed Mullane at corner back. Raheny nearly had two goals in the game but were unlucky not to find the net. The second half was a tame affair with Vincents snatching a late consolation goal but the victory was not in doubt. The team would like to wish a speedy recovery to Deccie Myers who sustained a broken collar bone early on in the game and we all hope to see Deccie back in action later on in the championship. Raheny now lie top of their group with two wins a draw so far.
