U15 Footballers beaten in Final of Ger Canavan Tournament

Hard luck to our U15 Footballers who were beaten by a very strong St. Anne's team in the Div 2 Final of the Ger Canavan Memorial Tournament in O'Tooles on Thursday night.Due to holidays etc. our panel was made up of 8 Under 15s, 8 Under 14s and 2 Under 13s. A one point victory after Extra Time against Craobh Chiarain on Tuesday saw the lads into the Semi Final where they defeated Naomh Barrog by four points in a closely fought game.Great scores from Brian Finnegan and Danny Reid together with some heroic defending by newly converted corner back, Karlin Hamilton and one or two really good saves from rookie goalkeeper Andy McMorrow enabled Raheny to see out the victory.

St. Anne's in the final proved to be too strong physically for the younger players on the team who despite being much smaller than their opponents in most areas of the pitch tried exremely hard from start to finish.

Congratulations to St Anne's and well done to our lads.
