Junior Hurling Match Report v St.Monicas
Date: 8th June 2010
Venue: St.Annes 9
Competition: AHL 6
Raheny 4-8 St Monicas 4-4
A hard fought win last night for the Junior team against a stubborn Monicas team. Raheny went into the game after two league wins in their last few outings. Monicas started well and got a early goal to put them in the lead, however Raheny struck back quickly with Mikey McShane taking a ball down from the sky and burying it in superb style. At the back Ciaran Groves and Ian Kennedy were marshalling the defence and Raheny led narrowly at half time by a couple of points.
The second half was a dogged affair with both teams battling hard for every ball. Raheny always seemed to have more class though and despite some pressure pressed hoime their advantage with some excellent scores from Ed Mullane and a goal from Cian Daly. Monicas kept battling to the end but with Brian Egan and Ian Kennedy outstanding in defence there was no way through. Paddy O'Gara also excelled in the midfield and Sean Carr supplied many opportunites for his fellow forwards to score up front. A good win and the team has now won their last 3 league games.
